Premenstrual Syndrome, otherwise known as PMS is experienced by about 75% of all women at some point of their life. PMS is said to be caused by one or all of the following: Hormonal Imbalances, Brain Chemical imbalances, and depression. As many western treatments are either ineffective or too invasive as they may require prescription drug intervention, many woman choose to simple endure their PMS. However this may be asking a lot of many woman as the symptoms may include any of the following emotional symptoms: Intense emotions leading to sadness, depression, anxiety, anger, cravings, social withdrawal and poor mental focus. In addition the following physical symptoms may accompany PMS: abdominal bloating, diarrhea, muscle aches, headaches, weight gain, acne, fatigue and insomnia. For some woman the symptoms of PMS are so bad they cannot function in their daily lives and become debilitated. When PMS is this bad it is referred to as Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder or PMDD.

Acupuncture Offers a 92% Clinical Cure for PMS
Li et al., Chinese Acupuncture and Moxibustion 1992, 12(3): 245-246

Conventional medicine does not offer any specific tests to formally diagnose PMS and PMDD and if medical help is sought you will be required to document your symptoms for two months before a treatment can be prescribed. Treatments usually consist of prescription medications such as anti-depressants, diuretics, birth control pills to regulate hormones, and Non-steroid anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). As you could imagine, some women may be asked to take all four. Until recently many woman have considered these treatments as acceptable. However, there can be long term side effects from such treatments. In addition these treatments only put a band-aid on the symptoms and do nothing to correct the underlying dysfunctions of the body allowing PMS or PMDD to occur. It is these underlying dysfunctions that can later lead to other disorders including fibroids, infertility, and severe menopause symptoms.

Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine Treat PMS/ Premenstrual Syndrome Naturally

Today more and more physicians are recommending natural treatments with diet and stress management to treat PMS and PMDD. This is exactly the approach that the physicians practicing acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine have been using for thousands of years. In fact, it has been medically documented that all the symptoms of PMS and PMDD can be caused by one who lives a life in the “fight or flight” state combined with irregular and unhealthy eating habits. When one lives in such a state which is often due to the demands of our current society, emotions tend to rule our demeanor rather than our intellects. Thus logical thinking is impaired and our Central Nervous System is not able maintain a sense of balanced homeostasis.

The best way to cure PMS or PMDD is to allow your Central Nervous System do it for you. Acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine are the best non-prescription drug methods to take the Central Nervous System out of flight or fight. This allows it to do its job of balancing hormones and brain chemicals, thus allowing the intellect to resolve emotions. Adjunctively, Traditional Chinese Herbs, Traditional Chinese Nutrition, Therapeutic Exercises and Stress Management will assure your PMS or PMDD is resolved and remains at bay.

With a 90% permanent clinical cure proven through double blind studies, there is no reason to put up with PMS or PMDD unless you do not know about how Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine can help.

Dr. Barrett’s Testimonials for Treating Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS) with Acupuncture & Traditional Chinese Medicine:

Treating Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS) with Acupuncture:

Claudia, Age 36: “When I went to my acupuncturist, Dr. John Barrett, it was for difficult menstrual cycles. I was having severe cramps and vomiting. My sexual energy was unfocused and erratic. Years ago I had terminated a pregnancy and since then had developed these horrible menstrual periods. I didn’t see the connection until after my treatments with Dr. Barrett. He always greeted me with a warm smile. His nonjudgmental presence allowed me to open up about this issue and others while embracing my healing. I felt my way through the process not really knowing what was happening internally because my focus was on less painful periods. He remained sensitive during my treatment and afterwards. I remember feeling like tons of bricks were lifted off me. A few months after my treatment my cramps got better and I became pregnant which was an amazing gift that I didn’t know was coming. I embraced it with joy. I feel that the treatments he did on me balanced me physically and emotionally while unblocking my creativity. Even my complexion improved, and the breakouts I had for years stopped completely. My female creative energy is flowing more freely. I thank Dr. Barrett profoundly because I believe the work he does has a deeper foundation than the obvious, and the benefits are endless.”

Treating Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS) with Acupuncture:

Shirley, Age 32: “I first went to see Dr. Barrett after taking antibiotics for a week in order to fight the flu. My chief complaint was residual symptoms from the flu that the antibiotics did not seem to help. These were fatigue and difficulty breathing. I could not believe that after one treatment both symptoms were permanently relieved. My second visit to Dr. Barrett was due to lower back pain which I have experienced off and on ever since my pregnancy eight years ago. After one massage my symptoms were permanently relieved. My third treatment from Dr. Barrett was due to a urinary track infection with blood in my urine and excessive bleeding during menstruation. Normally I would have chosen antibiotics as a preferred treatment, however, he assured me of a reliable herbal solution to be taken in pill form. After day one, the blood stopped in my urine, and after three days the infection had disappeared as well. Additionally, my next menstrual period had decreased from my usual seven days with two days of heavy bleeding down to four days with no heavy bleeding. During my third treatment Dr. Barrett noticed a discoloration of my skin due to a bruise which never completely healed. I told him that I bruised easily. For this he prescribed an herbal formula which I took for three weeks. During that time the discoloration which I had for over three-years disappeared and I have not noticed any further bruising. I also saw Dr. Barrett for an acute shoulder injury from strenuous exercise. The injury had hurt so badly, I could not focus on my work. After one treatment from Dr. Barrett the pain had decreased 75% and he assured me it would be gone the next day…and it was. Dr. Barrett has convinced me that TOM is very effective in so many ways that I never imagined possible. Instead of immediately seeing an MD, I prefer to see Dr. Barrett first as my primary care physician."
